WCCAA MISSION
To assist low-income families and communities of Walker County, Alabama in overcoming barriers of self-sufficiency through our Agency’s program and partnerships/referrals
WCCAA Programs:
- Energy Assistance – to assist low-income families with meeting their heating and cooling needs
- Financial Planning/Housing Counseling – Group Budgeting, Tenant & Fair Housing Workshops, Pre & Post Housing Workshops, Down Payment Assistance Program, Fraud Workshop, One-on-One Financial Counseling (HUD Certified & Neighbor Works Certified Counselors)
- Career Resource Center – Job Search, Resume Building, Computer Classes
- Transportation – provide transportation for Walker County residents. Services are offered by demand/response system. Call 205-265-3989 24 hours in advance
- Afterschool and Summer Youth “SKY” Program – for youth ages 6-15 and summer for youth ages 5-15. Afterschool Program provides assistance with homework and provide healthy snack. Summer Program provides services from 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for eight weeks in the summer. Summer activities include: reading, math, local and out-of-town trips, fishing, skating, swimming,
- Free Clothing Closet – for those in need of clothing, shoes, and some household items
- Community Programs – Senior Outreach, Community Awareness, and Annual Health Fair
